Since I began my MA Photography life, I spent almost a year living in the UK. I found that there are lots of coffee shops in here. British love coffee a lot, besides tea and alcohol, coffee might be one of the most popular drink in the UK. Many British drink at least one coffee a day.
However, do you know how many disposable coffee cups have been used every year? While you are reading this statement, maybe you are holding one on your hand. Every year, people use 16 billion disposable coffee cups (around 43.8 million per day). In order to support these 16 billion coffee cups consumption, there are wasted 6.5 million trees, 4 billion gallons of water, and energy that enough to support 54,000 homes. People are consuming the above nature resources while they consume a disposable coffee cup.
Although nowadays many coffee cups are recyclable, but in fact there are only less than 1% of them really have been recycle. There is difficulty in recycle these used cups because they are usually contaminated with drinks. ‘Difficulty’ is a series of images of used coffee cups that explain this situation, and a representation of people's daily coffee cups consumption.
The more disposable coffee cups you use, the more impact you bring to the environment.
